About the Wye Valley Mighty Hike
The Wye Valley Mighty Hike is beautiful and varied route, with a mixture of riverside walking, disused railways, and beautiful old forest trails. You’ll also pass through scenic villages of Newland and St Briavels. There are some steep hills that will give you bragging rights for weeks!

What is the route?
The full and half marathons will start at Monmouthshire Showground, Redbrook Road, Monmouth, NP25 4LG.
The half marathon finishes at St Briavels Playing Field, Lydney, GL15 6TH. The full marathon finishes back at Monmouthshire Showground, Redbrook Road, Monmouth, NP25 4LG.

Please note that the routes can be subject to change following health and safety inspections. Any key changes will be communicated on the day.

What time does it start and finish?
Hikers will set off in waves 20 minutes apart, from 6.50am for the full marathon and 8.50am for the half marathon.
You will book your start wave when you register. These are given on a first-come, first-served basis and we advise hikers with a slow pace to book the earliest start wave available to give plenty of time to complete the route.
For the full marathon, we estimate that the fastest walkers will finish in around 7.5 hours while the slowest walkers could take around 12.5 hours.
For the half marathon, we estimate that the fastest walkers will finish in around 4 hours while the slowest walkers could take around 6 hours.

How do I get there?
Parking for the full marathon and half marathon is at Monmouthshire Showground, Redbrook Road, Monmouth, NP25 4LG.
Free shuttle buses will run from the half marathon finish at St Briavels Playing Field back to the car park in the afternoon.
You can book parking when you register.

When does registration close?
Registration for the full and half marathon closes at midnight on the Friday 30 August, one week before the hike, or earlier if it sells out.
