About the South Coast Mighty Hike
Starting in Brighton, you’ll walk through the beautiful South Downs before reaching the iconic Seven Sisters. This is a challenging route, but you’ll be rewarded with stunning coastal views before a final climb up to Beachy Head.

What is the route?
The full marathon starts at Brighton Racecourse, BN2 9XZ.
The half marathon starts at Bankhouse Farm, Alfriston, BN26 5UF.
Both the full marathon and half marathon finish at Helen Gardens, Eastbourne, BN20 7XL.

Please note that the routes can be subject to change following health and safety inspections. Any key changes will be communicated on the day.

What time does it start and finish?
The hike will set off in waves 20 minutes apart, from 7.00am for the full marathon and 8.00am for the half marathon.
You will book your start wave when you register. These are given on a first-come, first-served basis and we advise hikers with a slow pace to book the earliest start wave available to give plenty of time to complete the route.
For the full marathon, we estimate that the fastest walkers will finish in around 7.5 hours while the slowest walkers could take around 12.5 hours.
For the half marathon, we estimate that the fastest walkers will finish in around 4 hours while the slowest walkers could take around 6 hours.

How do I get there?
Parking for the full marathon is at Brighton Racecourse, BN2 9XZ. Free shuttle buses will run from the finish line at Helen Gardens back to the start in the afternoon.
Parking for the half marathon hike is at Bramley Farm Bootfairs, BN26 6QN. Free shuttle buses will take people to the start line in the morning, and take people from the finish at Helen Gardens back to the car park in the afternoon.

When does registration close?Registration for the full and half marathon closes at midnight on the Friday 21 May, one week before the hike, or earlier if it sells out.
