Registration

How much is the registration fee?

The registration fee for the half marathon is £20 which you pay online upon completing the registration form. The registration fee is non-refundable.

How much do I have to raise?

We ask everyone to pledge to raise £250 to support people living with cancer. Click on Your Hike in the navigation bar where we have lots of useful information and resources to help you get started.

When do I have to sign up by?

The deadline to register is Friday 27 May 2022 or when the event sells out.

Can I transfer between the full and half-marathon distances?

It is possible to transfer between the full marathon and half marathon distances. Please know that if you request to transfer to the lower distance the £5 difference in registration fees will not be refunded.

Transferring between distances is not possible if the request is made less than 2 weeks before the event as registration will be closed or if the event is sold out.

If you wish to change from the half marathon to the full marathon, we will ask you to pay the £5 difference in registration fees.

What happens if the event is full?

If the event is full, and you would like to take part, you should fill out your details by clicking through at the top of this page, and you will be added to the waiting list.

The waiting list works on a first come first serve basis, and will offer out places when a participant has to drop out for any reason. When you get to the top of the list and a place becomes available for you, you will be emailed with an invite to register. You must use the link in this email to register within 7 days, or the link will expire. If you no longer wish to take part, you can decline the invite and the place will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.

We absolutely appreciate supporters are motivated to join our Mighty Hikes because of very personal connections to Macmillan. With this in mind, we recommend you join the waiting list as soon as possible, which will give you the best chance of securing a place on the event. We believe this is the fairest way to guarantee everyone has an equal chance of being invited to join the event.

Is there a discount for teams?

There is a 10% discount on the registration fee for teams of 5+. The discount code is generated when you complete the registration form which you need to enter in the promotional code box before proceeding to payment.

How do I register a team?

  1. Appoint a Team Captain who will complete the first online registration. N.B. the Team Captain will receive essential information about your team registration so must be someone who can easily access their emails and is happy to coordinate the team.
  2. Make sure the Team Captain has a list of all the names and email addresses of the people in the team before registering. Once the Team Captain has completed the first online registration, each team member will receive an invitation email to complete their own online registration.
  3. The Team Captain can pay the registration fee for as many members of the team as they like or just themselves. If the Team Captain doesn’t pay your registration fee you will be asked to pay this when you complete your own registration form.
  4. On the booking form, the Team Captain will choose the start time which will be reserved for the whole team.
  5. The Team Captain will also choose their parking and shuttle arrangements; however, this does not apply to the whole team. Each team member will be asked to choose their personal parking and shuttle arrangements upon registration.
  6. Once the Team Captain has completed the team registration, all members of the team will receive an invitation email with a link to their own registration form.
  7. Please complete your registration and booking form as soon as possible. We will hold your team start time but parking is allocated on a first-come first-served basis.
  8. The Team Captain will receive a confirmation email each time a member of the team completes their registration, which will allow you to monitor who has and has not joined the team.

How do I add more members to my team?

The Team Captain will receive a unique registration link in their confirmation email which can be forwarded on to any new individual who wants to join the team. Please note that the team start time may not be available if all places have been filled.

If I sign up as a team, does each team member have to raise the minimum fundraising pledge?

Yes, you will need to raise the minimum fundraising amount of £250 for each member of your team. You can, however, choose to split the total in any way you like between the team if some people are comfortable raising more than others.

The hike routes listed are subject to change following health and safety inspections. Any changes will be communicated and routes are fully signposted.

Are there toilet facilities?

Yes, there will be toilet facilities available at the start, the pit stop (9 miles) and the finish.

Are refreshments provided?

Yes, this is a fully supported event with a full buffet lunch at the finish and a pit stop along the route where substantial snacks and drinks will be provided.

Dietary requirements will be catered for and you can specify these on the registration form.

What parking is available?

Free parking is available at Brighton Racecourse, and you can book this through the registration form. Complimentary shuttles will be running from Brighton Racecourse to the start at Bankhouse Farm from 6.50am to 8.10am. It's a 30-minute drive so leave plenty of time for your start wave.

Complimentary shuttles will be running from Helen Gardens back to Brighton Racecourse from 2pm until 6.30pm.

Can I get there by public transport?

Due to capacity and accessibility, you cannot arrive at the start at Bankhouse Farm directly. You must arrive at the satellite car park at Brighton Racecourse and get a complimentary shuttle.

Complimentary shuttles will be running from Brighton Racecourse to the start at Bankhouse Farm from 7.45am to 9.05am. It's a 30-minute drive so leave plenty of time for your start wave.

What time does the hike start?

The half marathon will set off in waves 20 minutes apart, between 8am and 9.20am. You can select your preferred start wave when you register. These are given on a first-come, first-served basis.


We advise hikers with a slower pace to book the earliest start wave available to give plenty of time to complete the route.

What time does the event village open?

The Event Village at Brighton Racecourse will be open between 5pm and 7pm on Friday 10 June. The event village will re-open at Bankhouse Farm, Alfriston between 7.15am and 9.20am on Sunday 12 June.

Here you will pick up your bib number and can also visit our kit swap desk and pop-up shop to buy all our Mighty Hikes and Macmillan merchandise!

What time should I arrive in the morning?

We ask everyone to arrive 45 minutes before their start time and no earlier.

How long does it take to complete the hike?

We have a cut-off time for reaching the pit stop. This is for your safety and to give everyone the best chance of completing the hike. Hikers passing through the stop after the cut-off time may be taken to the finish line by shuttle bus.

The cut-off time for reaching the pit stop (9 miles) is 4.20pm.

We estimate that the fastest half marathon walkers will finish in 4 hours while the slowest walkers could take around 6 hours. Due to venue restrictions we have to start closing our finish area at 6.45pm. Therefore, when you choose your start time, please select an earlier wave if you consider yourself a slower walker and a later wave if you consider yourself a faster walker.
